It doesnt need to be anything super fancy, just large, heavy and able to spin big chunks of wood. My plan is to use an alaskan mill to cut oak (or other heavy hard wood) timbers into a bed. More timbers to raise off the bed make the head of the lathe out of two pillow blocks with a large shaft .
